Muktdesh Desk: BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar’s comments on the Bangladesh-India border have sparked a heated debate. Yesterday, at a program in Matiari Banpur of Krishnaganj block in West Bengal, India, on Saturday, the Ranaghat MP said that if the BJP comes to power in the 2026 assembly elections, the barbed wire fence between India and Bangladesh will be opened. Bengal was one before, and it will become one again.
A huge stir has started in political circles surrounding this comment by the BJP MP. The Trinamool Congress has strongly criticized this comment. Local Trinamool Youth Congress President Shubhdeep Sarkar said that he has said wrong things at various times. We wish him well.
He also said that border security is a central issue that is controlled by the BJP government, not a state issue.
A question has arisen around Jagannath Sarkar’s comment – is he threatening to occupy Bangladesh? Or is this just a comment made out of emotion?
At a time when the SIR work has started in West Bengal and the BJP is demanding the exclusion of infiltrators and so-called Rohingyas from the voter list, this BJP MP’s comment has created a fresh debate on the party’s policies and stance. His statement on border security and sovereignty has created a huge stir in political circles.
