Comilla: Jamaat Naib-e-Amir Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher said in Comilla, we want to see this government as neutral. This government should not be transformed into a BNP government. We want the implementation of reforms. We want a referendum before the national elections. We want free, fair and neutral national elections by February. Failure to do so will create an uncertain environment in the country. The party that has suddenly created an uncertain situation by creating a heat wave will be held accountable to the people.
He said these things while exchanging views with journalists after the rally of the Chauddagram Upazila Center Director at the Comilla Central Medical College auditorium on Friday at 11 am.
Referring to BNP, he said, it seems from their behavior that they want a Bangladesh without reforms. It seems that they want to return to the Bangladesh of the Awami League. That is why we have said, we will not let the people of the country go towards Awami Jahiliyat. If this government bows down to any injustice, if it deviates from the government’s decision, then it will be clear that this government is no longer neutral. If this government loses its neutrality, if it shows loyalty to any party, it cannot be expected that there will be fair elections under that government. Therefore, a question has also arisen today about whether the people will trust this government.
Addressing the interim government, he said, if this government represents any party, bows down to any party, and uses government instruments to fulfill their demands, we will have no chance to trust this government. Therefore, we would like to say directly on behalf of the people and on behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, that we are calling on the government to take initiatives to hold the two decisions that the government has taken, the referendum proposal that gives the July Charter a legal basis, separately before the national elections.
On behalf of Jamaat-e-Islami, Dr. Abdullah Md. Taher also said, BNP is saying that it has added a new page to the July Charter, but we saw that we are a little right. These are a planned initiative to create a foggy situation. Now if BNP does not reform, it means it does not want reform. It should have said earlier that we will not go to this commission. Saying these things at this moment is a sign of their irresponsibility, an attempt to create a political crisis. It is a tactic to create doubts among the people about the February elections and they want to unfairly put pressure on this government.
He also said, the government will appeal to the BNP and all stakeholders that this nation does not want to see any more chaos. Let us all discuss the way to a solution.
