Muktadesh Desk: Rangpur businessman Ashraful Haque was lured into a love trap by his friend Zarezul Islam and his girlfriend Shamima Akhter alias Kohinoor (33). For this, Shamima had a fake love affair with Ashraful a month ago. Later, Zarez and Shamima brought him to Dhaka, killed him and cut his body into 26 pieces.
RAB-3 commander Lieutenant Colonel Fayezul Arefin gave this information at a briefing at the RAB Media Center in the capital’s Karwan Bazar on Saturday. He said that RAB conducted a raid in the Boro Bijra area of Laksam, Comilla on the morning of November 14 and arrested Shamima from her house.
The RAB official said that businessman Ashraful left Rangpur for Dhaka with his friend Zarezul Islam, a resident of the same village, at 8 pm on November 11 to collect business-related dues. Ashraful’s phone was switched off since the next morning. Despite many attempts, relatives could not contact him. On November 13, police recovered the body of an unidentified man in two blue drums near a water pump at the High Court. After analyzing the fingerprints, the CID confirmed that the body belonged to missing businessman Ashraful.
Fayezul Arefin said that the deceased’s sister filed a murder case with Shahbagh Police Station that night, accusing Ashraful’s friend Jarezul. After investigating, the police arrested Jarezul’s girlfriend Shamima. Later, according to the information she gave, the deceased Ashraful’s blood-stained white pajamas-panjabi, along with the rope, scotch tape, shirt and shorts used in the murder, were recovered from the Nurpur area of Shanir Akhara.
The RAB official said that Jarez had been in a love relationship with Shamima for more than a year. George told Shamima that he could blackmail one of his friends into a love trap and get 10 lakh taka. George would take 7 lakh taka of this money, and Shamima would get 3 lakh taka.
As per the plan, Shamima started communicating with the deceased Ashraful Islam on her mobile phone a month ago and tried to attract him. They continued to talk on regular audio-video calls. George left for Dhaka with Ashraful at 8 pm on November 11. After arriving in Dhaka, George and Ashraful met Shamima on November 12 and rented a house in the Nurpur area of Shanir Akhara for 5,500 taka and moved in there.
He also said that before coming to Dhaka from Rangpur, George told his girlfriend Shamima Akhter over the phone that she should record an intimate video with Ashraful and show that video so that she could get 10 lakh taka. According to the plan, Shamima made the victim Ashraful unconscious by giving him sleeping pills along with Maltar sorbet, so that Ashraful would not be aware of it if George recorded a video of their intimate moments from outside. Later, when they spent some time alone, George recorded the video from outside. The video was recorded on Shamima’s mobile phone. The video is on the recovered mobile phone.
The RAB official said that on the afternoon of November 12, when Ashraful became completely unconscious, George tied Ashraful’s hands with rope and covered his face with scotch tape. George, excited after taking excessive Yaba, started hitting Ashraful with a hammer. Ashraful died on the spot.
He also said that on the morning of November 13, George bought a chapati and a drum from the nearby market to hide Ashraful’s body. George cut the body into 26 pieces with the chapati and stuffed them into two blue drums. At 2:43 pm, they rented a CNG-powered autorickshaw and loaded the two drums into CNG and left home at 2:52 pm. Fearing capture, they boarded another CNG vehicle on the way. At 3:13 pm, they reached the High Court Mazar Gate and, seeing the activity of the law enforcement agencies, left the two drums filled with bodies under a big tree on the main road adjacent to the High Court water pump and left for Sayedabad.
From there, George asked Shamima to go to her own house in Comilla and told Shamima that he would go to her own house in Rangpur. Accordingly, Shamima went to Comilla and cut off contact with George.
He also said that according to the information given by Shamima, their main objective was to earn money through blackmail. However, whether there was any previous enmity behind this brutal murder or not will be known after questioning George. Meanwhile, the police have reportedly arrested the main accused, George.
