Information Technology Desk: The National Cyber Security Agency (NCSA) has formed a special cell to prevent fake information, misleading content and rumors until the upcoming national elections.
This cell will monitor online and social media around the clock, verify information and ensure authenticity.
For this purpose, NCSA will work in coordination with the Press Wing of the Chief Advisor, Press Information Bangladesh (PIB), Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and law enforcement agencies.
NCSA has urged the general public to verify the source of any information or content before sharing it on social media. It has also requested that if they see suspicious, provocative or anti-national content, they should immediately inform the agency.
NCSA has also requested everyone to refrain from spreading false or misleading information, photo cards and videos, falling into the trap of anti-national groups, and to make others aware.
NCSA has a 24/7 helpline service for the public to quickly help prevent cybercrime. Four separate e-mails have been opened to receive complaints from citizens.
These are report_betting@ncsa.gov.bd for complaints related to online gambling; report_misinfo@ncsa.gov.bd for complaints related to false information, rumors or misinformation/disinformation; report_harassment@ncsa.gov.bd for complaints related to fake profiles, obscene or harmful content and online harassment; and report_cii@ncsa.gov.bd for complaints related to cyber attacks on Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) institutions.
NCSA has sought the cooperation of citizens in playing their role in using the country’s digital space safely and responsibly.
