Muktadesh Desk: The court has sentenced 10 people to life imprisonment, fined them Tk 20,000 each and acquitted 3 others for slitting the throat of a farmer named Chattar Mridha over a land dispute in Pansha, Rajbari.
Rajbari Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Saha delivered the verdict on Monday (November 10) afternoon.
The accused who were sentenced to life imprisonment are Sayeed Mridha, Monirul Sheikh, Ashraful Sheikh, Ashraf Sheikh, Asad Sheikh, Filu Mridha, Tofazzel alias Tofa, Mahatab Sheikh, Thandu and Miraj Mridha. Thandu and Miraj Mridha were absconding at the time of the verdict. Shefali Khatun, Chneta Khatun and Halima Khatun were acquitted.
According to the case source, on June 16, 2018, at 7 am, Abdus Chhattar attacked Mridha and his family members in Jagir Malanchi village of Pangsha upazila of Rajbari district due to a land dispute. In this incident, Abdus Chhattar killed Mridha by slitting his throat. In this incident, his wife Rashida Parveen filed a case naming 17 people as the plaintiff and 4-5 unknown people as the accused.
Public Prosecutor of Rajbari District and Sessions Judge Court Md. Abdur Razzak said that after the evidence of the case, 10 people were sentenced to life imprisonment, fined Tk 20,000 each and acquitted three. At the time of the verdict, two accused were absconding.
