Regarding the NCP’s candidate nomination for all 300 seats, Nahid Islam said, “We are preparing for the elections on our own. However, if any party expresses solidarity with our demands for reforms and the July Charter, we will consider the matter of an alliance.”
Regarding when the list of candidates will be announced, the party’s convener said, “The list of candidates will be announced by November 15.”
Regarding the three constituencies from which Begum Khaleda Zia will contest, he said, “We may not field candidates in those areas in honor of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and those who have played a leading role in establishing democracy. Apart from that, we will announce candidates in the maximum number of seats.”
Earlier on Tuesday, regarding the announcement of candidates against BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, NCP Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari said that the Jatiya Nagorik Party will not field a candidate against Begum Khaleda Zia. In this regard, the party’s joint convener Monira Sharmin said, “We had decided as a party that we will not field candidates in the constituencies where Begum Khaleda Zia will contest in honor of her. However, we have not officially announced this decision yet. But in the meantime, Nasiruddin Patwari announced the matter in a speech today.” We can officially announce it next week.’ He said, Begum Khaleda Zia has always been in favor of the democratic system of Bangladesh and she has never compromised in any way. For this, she had to endure a lot of torture and oppression. We respect her long political struggle and journey. In that respect, we have decided that we will not field candidates in the three constituencies from which Begum Khaleda Zia will contest.
