Islam Desk: Storms and typhoons are the creation of Allah. They are a kind of test for mankind. It is a sign of Allah’s mercy and punishment, which He uses to test mankind. Therefore, during storms and typhoons, Islam encourages people to recite specific supplications and seek protection and mercy from Allah.
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran, “In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the changing of the winds at His command, and in the clouds which He controls, there are signs for a people who understand.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, verse: 164)
However, such disasters occur because of human sins and deeds. When injustice and injustice increase in society, there is a greater risk of natural disasters.
Allah Almighty says, “Disasters on land and water are the result of human deeds.” (Surah Al-Rum, verse: 41).
In various hadiths, the Prophet (peace be upon him) mentioned many reasons for natural disasters. The Prophet (peace be upon him) himself was worried about these disasters on his Ummah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed to Allah that this Ummah would not be destroyed by natural disasters.
In the lives of the holy companions of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), we see that in times of trouble and calamity, they would stand up in prayer and be patient. (Mishkatul Masabih)
It is narrated in the Hadith that when a strong wind blew, the Prophet (peace be upon him) would go to the mosque and engage in prayer. (Mishkat)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught his Ummah to pray without getting upset during cyclones and natural disasters.
