Muktadesh Desk: The news spread about the interim government’s chief advisor’s envoy for SDGs Lamia Morshed, special envoy for international relations Lutfe Siddiqui and her sister Hosna Siddiqui is completely baseless, untrue and motivated, said Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the chief advisor. He said this in a post on the social media Facebook on Saturday (November 15).
He said that the baseless and imaginary report claims that the interim government wants to appoint the three mentioned as ambassadors to different countries. The report also says that ‘professional diplomats are being sacrificed to fulfill their alleged ‘desire to become ambassadors’.
The press secretary said that this report, devoid of minimum journalistic ethics, sense of responsibility and professionalism, compares the honorary position of the ambassador with a derogatory analogy like ‘eating butter’ and their fictitious appointment with ‘eating the tree and picking the leaves’—which is extremely insulting and condemnable for all concerned.
He said that the use of such language and baseless allegations clearly reflects personal hatred and a motivated mentality.
When Lamia Morshed formally protested on this issue, Manabzamin claimed that they published the report based on the initial discussions of the concerned department—although that claim is also completely baseless.
He also said that it is unthinkable for any responsible media outlet to publish an untrue report using such derogatory language.
Through this, Manabzamin has reduced itself to the level of disrespect of third-tier media outlets and has not apologized as usual.
Shafiqul Alam said, we call on the Daily Manabzamin to immediately withdraw the false, misleading and defamatory report and formally apologize.
Meanwhile, the interim government’s chief advisor on SDGs, Lamia Morshed, has not expressed her intention to go into the diplomatic profession. She wants to stay where she is currently.
She said that she has not expressed this intention. She does not know who spread it.
Lamia Morshed said that she joined the Yunus Center 31 years ago. She was closely associated with Professor Yunus’s international activities. She worked with great dedication for the country.
So that the country has benefited. After joining the interim government, she is fulfilling her duties there. She does not want to be involved in government work beyond the specified period.
It is worth noting that recently, in a news media, Dhaka University Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr. The process of appointing Niaz Ahmed Khan, Principal Advisor on SDGs Lamia Morshed, Special Envoy on International Relations Lutfe Siddiqui and his sister Husna Siddiqui as ambassadors is underway. Among them, the government has sent a formal letter (Agreemo) to Copenhagen seeking consent to appoint DU VC as Bangladesh’s next ambassador to Denmark.
