Gazipur: Police have rescued a husband and wife with their throats slit from a flat in Konabari Nawab Ali Market area of Gazipur city.
They were rescued from the fifth floor of Ekta Villa on Saturday (November 15) morning. At that time, the wife Rahima Khatun (35) was dead, but when her husband Emran Hossain (40)’s pulse was found, he was quickly sent to the hospital.
The deceased and injured couple are Emran Hossain, son of Suruj Ali of Amtala village under Haluaghat police station in Mymensingh, and his wife Rahima Khatun.
According to police and local sources, Emran and Rahima lived on the fifth floor of Ekta Villa with their 16-year-old daughter Sharmin. Due to a disagreement within the family over some issue, Emran first slit the throat of his wife Rahima with a sharp knife. Later, he tried to slit his throat himself with the same knife. When their daughter Sharmin witnessed the incident, people in the area rushed to find out and informed the police.
Upon receiving the information, Konabari Police Station reached the spot and recovered the body of the deceased Rahima and sent Emran to the hospital in a seriously injured condition.
Konabari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Salahuddin confirmed the matter and said, “After recovering the body, during the search, the pulse of the husband Emran was found. We quickly sent him to the hospital. The body of the deceased Rahima has been sent to the morgue. The investigation into the incident is ongoing and legal action is under process.”
