Muktadesh Desk: The US military has attacked a ship in the Caribbean Sea again. Three people on board were killed. Al Jazeera reported this information in a report on Sunday (November 2).
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said in a post on X on Saturday night that the operation was carried out on the orders of President Donald Trump and that the ship was attacked as part of the operation.
He said that based on intelligence, the ship was identified as being involved in illegal drug smuggling. He also said that no US troops were harmed in the attack. Washington claims that in recent months, the US military operation has been strengthened to prevent drug smuggling and related terrorist activities in the Caribbean region.
Previously, the Trump administration has carried out 10 attacks against drug-carrying ships in the region since September. As a result, 43 people have died. The main targets of these attacks were Venezuelan ships in the Caribbean.
As a result, tensions are rising between the two countries. The Pentagon has so far deployed seven warships, a submarine, drones and fighter jets to the Caribbean, and another warship has been deployed to the Gulf of Mexico.
