Muktadesh Desk: The Additional Sessions Judge Court of Mymensingh has sentenced a police couple to death for killing a fellow policeman due to extramarital affair. After a long investigation and hearing, Judge Harun-or Rashid of Additional Sessions Judge Court-1 announced the verdict in this sensational murder case on Wednesday afternoon.
The two accused convicted in the verdict are Constable Md. Alauddin and his wife Constable Nasrin Nelli. Alauddin’s house is in the Bhabanipur area of Nalchiti police station in Jhalakathi district.
According to the details of the case, in 2014, Constable Alauddin’s wife Nasrin Nelli and colleague Constable Saiful Islam had an extramarital affair. The murder took place as a result of this relationship. In August 2014, Nelly and her husband Alauddin murdered her lover, police officer Saiful Islam, in her rented house in Kanchijhuli area of Mymensingh.
After the murder, the accused police couple tried to hide Saiful Islam’s body in a sack. However, a setback occurred while trying to hide the body. They were caught red-handed with the sacked body during a police search at the city’s Town Hall intersection.
After the incident, deceased Saiful’s mother, Mosha Muleda Begum, filed a murder case with Mymensingh Kotwali Police Station on August 13, 2014, accusing Constable Alauddin, his wife Nasrin Nelly and two other unidentified people.
After a long investigation and judicial process, the Additional Sessions Judge’s Court announced the verdict in the case in the presence of the accused.
On the same day, the verdict was announced in another separate case, a murder case that took place at Tarakanda Police Station in 2022. In this verdict, Judge Joynab Begum of Sessions Judge Court-4 sentenced one accused to death and the other to life imprisonment in a dispute over a murder case involving the theft of gold through fraud.
