With the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections ahead, three to 10 potential BNP candidates have worked in the field in the hope of getting party nomination. Based on five surveys on them, the opinions of the party organizational team, and the evaluation of the standing committee leaders, BNP announced potential single candidates for 237 seats last Monday. In this situation, the followers of those deprived of nomination immediately expressed their angry reactions, both publicly and privately. This was seen in some places yesterday as well. Meanwhile, BNP candidate Ershad Ullah, the convener of Chittagong Metropolitan City, was shot and injured during a public meeting in Chittagong-8 constituency on Wednesday. In this situation, individual candidates have pushed aside all obstacles and entered the field with all their might. Some are going to the constituency by road, sea and air from Dhaka; they are showered with floral greetings. Many candidates are running to the homes or offices of the deprived. They are specially requesting to unite in favor of the rice sheaf with their chests. The acting chairman of the party, Tarique Rahman, is also working through various means to build a strong, steel-like unity based on the constituency.
BNP has not yet announced candidates in 63 constituencies. The candidates in these constituencies are campaigning in favor of the rice sheaf. Sarwar Jamal Nizam, who was nominated from Anwara constituency, was elected twice before. He arrived in Chittagong last Tuesday afternoon. Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury’s son Hummam Quader Chowdhury, who entered the election field for the first time, arrived in Chittagong from Dhaka last Tuesday morning. Yesterday, Wednesday, the young BNP leader Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, who was nominated for the first time, entered the election field. He is the son of former mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and former state minister Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin. Yesterday, after Zohar, he visited the shrine of the renowned Sufi saint Amanat Shah on the banks of Laldighi in the city. Meanwhile, Aslam Chowdhury’s failure to get nomination from Chittagong-4 constituency has created disappointment and anger among his followers.
Patuakhali: After getting nomination for Patuakhali-1 constituency, the party’s vice chairman Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Altaf Hossain Chowdhury rushed to the office of the district BNP president, forgetting the long-standing enmity. At that time, district BNP president Snehangsu Sarkar Kutty welcomed him. Earlier, the first election rally of the BNP-nominated paddy sheaf marker candidate in Patuakhali-1 constituency was held last Tuesday, ahead of the national elections.

Narayanganj and Sonargaon: BNP nominated candidate Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu in Narayanganj-1 constituency has not yet started his formal mass contact.
