Muktadesh Desk: Prominent Islamic preacher Dr. Zakir Naik is scheduled to visit Dhaka by the end of this month. India has started to feel the heat surrounding his visit. On October 30, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal sent a message to Bangladesh regarding the matter. Now, Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry has responded to that statement.
Zakir Naik, who is currently in Malaysia, is said to be coming to Dhaka on November 28 and 29 to attend a charity event in Bangladesh. However, New Delhi has expressed its hope to Bangladesh that he will be handed over to India as soon as he sets foot in Dhaka.
The Foreign Ministry has said that the comments of the Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson regarding Zakir Naik’s visit to Bangladesh have come to the attention of Bangladesh. Spokesperson SM Mahbubul Alam told BSS, “The comments made by the spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding the possible visit of a prominent Islamic scholar or religious figure to Bangladesh have come to our attention.”
He added, “We also believe that no country should give shelter to an accused or fugitive from another country.”
