Entertainment Desk: Hard work or ‘shortcut’? The country’s leading OTT platform Bangla is bringing its new original drama ‘Shortcut’ with a humorous and suspenseful story of finding hidden treasure in the hope of becoming rich. The country’s popular pair Shimul Sharma and Lamima Lam are coming together on screen for the first time through this drama directed by Majidul Islam. The drama will be streaming exclusively on Bangla from Thursday (October 30).
The story begins with Mamun (Shimul Sharma) of Muradpur village, whose grandfather never returned after searching for hidden treasure. Like his grandfather, Mamun also dreams of becoming rich through ‘shortcuts’. His conflict with his lover Laila over this is at its peak. Will Mamun find the hidden treasure, or is there something else written in his destiny? The story of ‘Shortcut’ is about that mystery and suspense.
Director Majidul Islam said about the story, “Shortcut is a reflection of our society. Nowadays, everyone wants to get success quickly, but no one wants to pay for hard work. We have tried to highlight this serious issue through humor. We have tried to give an important message in the guise of comedy and suspense. I hope the audience will like the story.”
The story and screenplay of the play are written by Shimul Sharma himself. In addition to Shimul Sharma and Lamima Lam playing the roles of Mamun and Laila, Abdullah Rana, Ishtiaq Ahmed Rumel, Samiul Haque Bhuiyan, Shahadat Shishir and many others have played various important roles.
