Muktdesh Desk: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has made it easier for expatriate Bangladeshis to file their income tax returns online. From now on, Bangladeshi taxpayers living abroad will be able to file their e-returns by receiving a one-time password (OTP) via email instead of their mobile phone.
In a notification today (October 23), NBR Public Relations Officer Md. Al Amin Sheikh gave this information.
NBR said that during registration on the e-return portal, the OTP is sent to the taxpayer’s biometric registered Bangladeshi mobile number. Since the same system is in place for expatriates as well, many taxpayers living abroad were facing problems in filing their e-returns. To solve this problem, a system has now been introduced to send OTP to their own email.
The NBR further said that taxpayers living abroad can now send their applications to ereturn@etaxnbr.gov.bd by attaching their passport number, national identity card number, copy of visa-seal, email address and photo. After verifying the application, the NBR will send them an OTP and registration link to their email. Through this, they can easily register on the e-return portal and file their income tax returns.
