Muktdesh Desk: The price of the US dollar has increased further against the taka. Today, Wednesday, the selling price of the dollar in various banks was at a maximum of 122 taka 75 paisa, which was at a maximum of 122 taka 30 paisa last week.
Bank officials said that the price of the dollar has been increasing recently due to several reasons, including the increase in the number of import LCs being opened. Today, the selling price of the dollar at Standard Chartered Bank was 122 taka 75 paisa and the buying price was 121 taka 75 paisa. At state-owned Sonali Bank, the selling price of the dollar was 122 taka 60 paisa and the buying price was 121 taka 60 paisa.
Dhaka Bank sold one dollar at 122 taka 50 paisa and bought it at 121 taka 15 paisa. Last week, this rate was slightly lower.
This upward trend in the dollar has also affected the interbank exchange rate.
However, according to Bangladesh Bank, the highest price of the dollar in the interbank market today was 122 taka 25 paisa, which was 122 taka yesterday.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bank recently bought $38 million from six banks at a rate of 121 taka 80 paisa per dollar. Since the beginning of the current fiscal year, Bangladesh Bank has bought a total of $2.12 billion from the banks.
