Ujirpur: Miscreants set fire to the Gutia Union BNP office in Ujirpur upazila of Barisal late at night. Some chairs in the office were partially damaged.
The incident took place in ward number 4 of Gutia Union after 12:30 am on Wednesday (November 12).
However, as of 4:00 pm on Thursday (November 13), Ujirpur Model Police Station OC Abdus Salam said that no case or complaint had been filed with the police station in this incident.
Gutia Union BNP President Shahin Hawlader told Kalbela that two unidentified persons barged into the office after 12:30 am and fled. However, it was not possible to identify them as there was no electricity connection.
Ujirpur Upazila BNP Senior Joint Convener Humayun Kabir said that it is believed that the terrorists of the banned Awami League have committed such an incident to spread panic among the common people. BNP will seek legal assistance in this incident.
Uzirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdus Salam told Kalbela that they visited the scene of the incident at night after receiving the information. Four chairs and a table of the BNP office were partially burnt due to the arson. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received in this incident.
