Muktdesh Desk: 30 people from both sides were injured in a chase and counter-chase between BNP and BJP workers in Bhola over nominations for the 13th National Parliament elections.
The incident took place in Bhola Notun Bazar on Saturday (November 1, 2025). It is reported that at least 30 people from both sides were injured. The district BJP office was vandalized.
Eyewitnesses said that leaders and activists in favor of the nomination of BNP’s Bhola district convener Golam Nabi Alamgir gathered in front of the Mahajanpati party office around 11 am.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists gathered in front of the Notun Bazar district BJP office in favor of the nomination of BJP Chairman Andalib Rahman Parthar, chanting slogans. After a while, BNP started marching from their district office towards the Notun Bazar BJP office. At that time, BJP leaders and activists prevented the BNP procession from coming towards Notun Bazar. This led to a chase and counter-chase and brickbats being thrown between the two groups. At one stage, when the BJP leaders and activists were chased by BNP workers, some parts of the district BJP office were vandalized by BNP leaders and activists. Tensions are still high between both groups over this.
In this regard, District BJP General Secretary Motasim Billah told Amar Desh, we were preparing to hold a rally to campaign for BJP Chairman Andalib Rahman Partha, at that time BNP leaders and activists attacked us and vandalized our office. About 30 of our leaders and activists were injured in this. I think that after August 5, the fair and beautiful environment that we are heading towards after the fair and beautiful elections will no longer be there. The BJP leader claims that BNP attacked us along with fascists. We will give justice to the people for this attack.
Meanwhile, the district BNP immediately held a press conference at the district office regarding this incident. At the press conference, they said that BJP attacked our peaceful procession. District BNP member secretary Raisul Alam and other leaders were present at the time.
In this incident, Abu Shahadat Mohammad Hasnain Parvez, officer-in-charge of Bhola Sadar Model Police Station, said, “About 30-40 BJP members are injured. The situation is normal. Additional police have been deployed.”
