Muktdesh Desk: Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Taher said, the July Charter is so important that it needs to be implemented through a referendum, even if some funds are spent. We think it is right that a referendum be held before the national elections.
He told reporters after a meeting with a delegation visiting Bangladesh led by Linford Andrews, advisor to the Commonwealth’s ‘Electoral Support’ branch and head of ‘Pre-Election Assessment’, at the Jamaat-e-Islami central office on Wednesday afternoon.
He said, the July Charter is so important that it needs to be implemented through a referendum, even if some funds are spent. The issue of PR in the upper house is also involved with the referendum, so it must be resolved through a referendum before the elections.
