Muktadesh Desk: Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah has commented that he should have studied in the secretariat instead of studying in Biman Milestone School.
He made this comment after a discussion on the progress of BCS exams at the Bangladesh Public Service Commission on Sunday (October 26).
Hasnat Abdullah said that the secretariat has now become the biggest den of dictatorship and hooliganism, where we are not considered as common people. If this irregularity and violence of the Ministry of Public Administration is not stopped, job seekers will never be free from the complexity and chain of influence of red tape. This is really unfortunate for us.
He said that the July mass uprising started demanding to prevent discrimination in BCS, but even today there is a lack of coordination in the activities of the PSC. Officials of the Ministry of Public Administration are still busy with division and posting.
He also said that it is urgent to reform the Ministry of Public Administration now. Job seekers are not on their priority list. Those in charge there are unable to keep up with the times. This inefficiency and apathy is creating anger among the new generation.
Hasnat alleged that bureaucrats have taken the most advantage after the coup. They have ensured their promotions, but the suffering of ordinary job seekers has not yet subsided.
He said that the PSC is sincerely trying to reform. It has also been recommended to complete the BCS within a year. However, the jurisdiction to amend the service rules lies with the Ministry of Public Administration. If they cannot stop these irregularities, then job seekers will not be free from the violence of red tape.
Referring to the recent plane crash, Hasnat said that if the plane had not landed at the milestone, it would have hit the core of corruption.
Criticizing the taking of viva for political reasons, Hasnat further said that the BCS will never be transparent and fair if it is not evaluated on the basis of merit.
