Muktadesh Desk: Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha, brother of Mir Mahfuzur Rahman Mugda, martyred in the July Uprising, Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) VP Sadiq Kayem, Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, and many others injured in the July Uprising arrived at the International Crimes Tribunal premises on Monday morning.
The verdict in the case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and three accused in the crimes against humanity committed during the July Uprising is today. Security has been tightened at the International Crimes Tribunal premises in view of the verdict.
The verdict announcement is scheduled to be broadcast live from the courtroom of the International Crimes Tribunal-1. This is the first case to be filed in the case of crimes against humanity including murder during the July Uprising.
The three-member International Crimes Tribunal-1, headed by Justice Golam Mortuza Majumder, will pronounce the verdict in the case. The other two members of this tribunal are Justice Md. Shafiul Alam Mahmud and Judge Md. Mohitul Haque Enam Chowdhury.
Along with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was ousted in a mass uprising, the other two accused in the case are former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. Of the three accused, Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman are absconding. Both are currently residing in India.
