Muktadesh: Two crude bombs (cocktails) exploded in front of the residence of Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, in the capital’s Central Road area. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday (16 November). No casualties were reported. Adviser Rizwana Hasan confirmed the matter to the media.
Eyewitnesses said that miscreants detonated two crude bombs in front of the adviser’s house and fled.
Earlier, around 7:30 p.m. the previous evening, two cocktails were detonated at the SAARC Fountain intersection in the capital’s Karwan Bazar. No one was injured in that incident either.
The verdict in the International Crimes Tribunal case against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina — accused of crimes against humanity during the July mass uprising — is scheduled to be delivered today, Monday.
Ahead of the verdict, the Awami League — currently barred from political activities — announced a “lockdown” program last week. Since the announcement of the program, incidents of arson attacks on buses and trains, along with cocktail explosions, have been occurring in Dhaka and various parts of the country since 10 November.
