Muktadesh Desk: Leaders, activists and supporters of the banned Awami League have carried out sporadic sabotage in several places across the country, focusing on the verdict in the case of ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and some other leaders. They have sabotaged the announced two-day ‘Dhaka Lockdown’ program. However, people’s lives are normal.
A pedestrian named Abdul Basir (50) was injured in a cocktail explosion in the capital’s New Eskaton. The cocktail explosion occurred in front of the Waqf Bhaban on New Eskaton Road at around 8:40 am on Sunday.
The injured Abdul Basir said, I was walking in front of the Waqf Bhaban and going to my office on Banglamotor. Suddenly, the cocktail exploded. The cocktail was thrown from the flyover in front of the Waqf Bhaban. I was injured in my leg and hand.
Earlier, a cocktail explosion occurred at the Hatirjheel Madhubagh Bridge at around 6:10 pm on Saturday. A motorcycle at the scene caught fire.
In Kashiani, Gopalganj, leaders and activists of the banned Awami League, Chhatra League and Jubo League tried to block the highway by cutting down trees. They blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway in the Gopalpur Bazar area of the upazila late on Saturday night by cutting down trees. This trapped vehicles on both sides of the highway and damaged a passenger bus of Hamim Paribahan.
A fire broke out in a moving bus of Ajmiri Glory Paribahan on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Gazipur. The bus was burnt in the fire within moments. The incident took place in the Hurricane area of the metropolis at around 7:45 pm on Saturday. There were about 10-12 passengers in the bus at the time. As soon as the fire broke out, the passengers quickly got off and went to a safe place. There were no casualties. About 80 percent of the bus was burnt to ashes in the fire.
In Sylhet, miscreants set fire to an ambulance parked in the hospital parking lot and a bus at the bus stand. The incident took place late on Saturday night at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital and Kumargaon bus stand. However, no casualties were reported.
Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. The ambulance was burnt to ashes in the fire.
