Muktadesh Desk: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, ‘The people of Bangladesh are currently looking forward to a festive election, the people of Bangladesh are now waiting for that. There is no point in wasting our time on other petty issues. We move towards the election, return the ownership of the country to the people. We can form an elected parliament and government through their votes, which will be accountable to the people. This is the demand of the people.’
He said these things in response to questions from journalists present after a program at the city’s Hotel Peninsula on Friday (November 14) afternoon.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, ‘The biggest demand of the people of Bangladesh now is to bring back a democratic order, which is possible through a fair election. Today, the people are waiting to elect their representatives by voting. The formation of a parliament, the formation of a government is possible only through elections through votes. There will be a parliament that will be responsible and accountable to the people, this is something that has been missing in Bangladesh for the last 15-16 years.
He said, “The elected government will solve all the problems. It will bring back a democratic order in Bangladesh. Then, all the problems that are being talked about now will be solved through the elected representatives of the people. Constitutionally, economically, all the problems can be solved through the elected representatives and the government. Beyond that, no government will understand the needs of the people, nor will it understand their minds.”
This member of the BNP Standing Committee, mentioning that if there is chaos on the day of the verdict in the crimes against humanity case against Sheikh Hasina, the law enforcement agencies will control it, said, “The law enforcement agencies will prevent chaos, this is not the responsibility of any political party. We have to gradually come out of that culture. The responsibility of the law enforcement agencies in the country is to maintain law and order. Those who have responsibilities, it is better for them to carry out. And there is a judiciary to judge, leave it to them. We wanted a neutral department, that has already happened. The judiciary will be given more institutional ground in the coming days.
