Muktadesh Desk: If the five-point demands, including the implementation of the National Charter in July and holding a referendum in November, are not implemented, eight parties including Jamaat-e-Islami and Islamic Movement will remain in front of the residence of the chief advisor for an indefinite period.
The program was announced at a joint press conference of the leaders of the protesting parties at the capital’s Moghbazar Al-Falah auditorium on Wednesday. The program was announced by Jamaat-e-Islami Nayebe Amir Mujibur Rahman.
At the press conference, Mujibur Rahman said that on November 13, people from all walks of life, including the leaders of the eight parties, will be on the streets to prevent the sabotage and mischief of fascist forces. He called on anti-fascist patriotic forces to take to the streets.
The Jamaat-e-Islami Nayebe Amir said that on November 14, a protest march will be held at the district and metropolitan levels across the country demanding five-point demands, including the issuance of an order to implement the National Charter in July and holding a referendum before the national elections.
The press conference said that a meeting of the top leaders of the eight protesting parties will be held on November 16 at 11 am. After the meeting, a press conference will be held at 12:30 pm at Al-Falah Auditorium. If the people’s demands are not accepted before then, an indefinite sit-in program will be announced from that press conference in front of the chief advisor’s residence, Jamuna.
In response to a question about whether the eight parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, are trying to postpone the elections with various programs, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar said that they want elections by February 12. Their Amir said at the rally yesterday that they have no objection to holding elections in January if the July charter is issued and a referendum is held in November.
The joint press conference was attended by Islamic Movement Bangladesh Secretary General Yunus Ahmad, Khilafat Majlis Amir Maulana Abdul Basit, Jamaat’s Assistant Secretary General Rafiqul Islam Khan, Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair; Ashraf Ali Akon, presidium member of the Islamic Movement; Rashed Pradhan, vice-president of JAGPA, and top leaders of eight parties.
