Muktdesh Desk: As part of the security measures to strengthen political tension and the banned Awami League program, a ban has been imposed on the use of mobile phones by police members on duty in the capital Dhaka. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Sheikh Md. Sajjat Ali gave this instruction on Monday.
DMP Joint Commissioner (Crime) Md. Faruk Hossain said that no police member will be able to use mobile phones while performing duties at the field level. However, this ban will not apply to the concerned in-charges or team leaders. If the instruction is violated, action will be taken as per the rules on charges of breach of discipline.
The instruction states that all members must be highly attentive in performing their duties to maintain law and order and prevent prohibited political activities. At the same time, strict vigilance has been asked to maintain a fair environment surrounding the upcoming national elections.
DMP officials said that this instruction has been implemented immediately for police members on patrol, check posts, mobile teams and security of important installations at the field level.
