Muktdesh Desk: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will contest in Dinajpur-3, Bogra-7 and Feni-1 seats. Tarique Rahman will contest in Bogra-6 seat.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan on Monday (November 3) after the party’s national standing committee meeting. Candidates for 237 seats were announced at that time.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul is announcing the names of the nominated candidates. The party’s central leaders are present at the press conference.
Over the past few months, the BNP acting chairman has conducted at least 5 surveys in 300 seats to finalize the party’s candidate list. After that, he takes the opinion of the organizational team. Wherever there seems to be a major crisis, he tries to resolve it by talking to potential candidates himself or through members of the standing committee. Most recently, Tarique Rahman held a meeting with potential candidates for 300 seats at the BNP Chairperson’s political office on October 26 and 27.
BNP was supposed to announce a single candidate for around 200 seats in October. Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the party’s national standing committee, also said so. But the single candidate list was not published until yesterday, November 2.
