Muktadesh Desk: The International Crimes Tribunal has said that the date for the announcement of the verdict in the crimes against humanity case will be set on November 13. Security has been tightened in the capital Dhaka around this day. However, the tribunal’s prosecutor Gazi Mohammad Tamim commented that there is no concern about this.
While talking to reporters at the tribunal premises on Sunday (November 9), he clarified that the verdict will not be announced on November 13, but a future date will be set for the announcement of the verdict that day. The judge will decide the date for the announcement of the verdict.
On October 23, the tribunal set November 13 as the date for the announcement of the verdict against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, accused in this case of crimes against humanity committed in July-August.
Of the three accused in the case, Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal are currently absconding. On the other hand, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, who is in prison, has become a witness in the case. The argument phase of the case ended last August.
