Muktadesh Desk: At least 18 people have been killed in a new Israeli airstrike on the besieged Gaza Strip. The attacks took place in various parts of Gaza from Tuesday (October 28) night to Wednesday (October 29) after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu himself ordered the attack. Al Jazeera reported.
The media outlet reported that Netanyahu ordered a counter-attack on Gaza after an Israeli soldier was injured in a gun attack in the Rafah border area. Immediately after this, the Israeli forces began shelling several areas in the valley.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian organization Hamas has condemned the Israeli attack. Its military wing, the Qassam Brigades, has accused Israel of directly violating the ceasefire conditions. They also said that if the Israeli aggression continues, the recovery of the bodies of the 13 missing prisoners will be delayed and the process of handing over the bodies will also be suspended.
However, US Vice President J.D. Vance claimed that the ceasefire was still in effect. Speaking to reporters in Washington, he said, “There may be minor clashes in Gaza. We know that an Israeli soldier was injured, so there will be a reaction. Still, I think it is possible to maintain peace.”
On the other hand, Hamas has claimed that it has no involvement in the recent events in Rafah. The organization’s leader, Suhail al-Hindi, told Al Jazeera, “We are having some difficulties in recovering the bodies, but the entire responsibility for this delay lies with Israel.”
The Gaza state media office said that Israeli forces have killed at least 94 Palestinians since the start of the ongoing ceasefire. At the same time, they complained that humanitarian aid is being severely restricted in Gaza.
In a statement, Hamas called the latest attack a “clear violation of the ceasefire” and demanded an end to the Israeli aggression.
