Muktodesh deshk:The police have released 372 people in the cases filed in the July Revolution incident as the charges were not proven. On Monday (October 27), the state confirmed this information to the Appellate Division during the bail hearing of banned organization Chhatra League’s Eden College branch president Tamanna Jasmine River.
The state has submitted this report to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court. The report states that the final report has been submitted by releasing 372 people in the fake cases filed in the July Revolution as evidence was not found. Many more charges have been filed. All verifications are underway. However, the DB is investigating the River case.
It further states that the police have already sent an interim report to the court recommending the release of 109 people. Of these, one each in Habiganj, Joypurhat, Manikganj and Gazipur districts, two in Khulna, 39 in Sylhet, 12 in Dhaka Metropolitan City (DMP), 25 in Dhaka district and 18 in Kurigram.
In addition, 251 more people are in the process of being released. Of them, 87 are in Dhaka district, 118 in Dhaka city, 24 in Kushtia, 8 in Chapainawabganj, 2 in Chittagong and Manikganj, 5 in Cox’s Bazar, 3 in Thakurgaon and 1 in Kishoreganj. However, it is known that applications have been submitted for release in fake cases as well.
On this day, a 3-member appeal bench headed by Senior Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury of the Appellate Division held a bail hearing for Chhatra League leader Tamanna Jasmine River. The court did not grant her bail and fixed the date for the bail hearing of her case again after three months.
Tamanna Jasmine River was arrested from the Bhatara area of the capital on December 15 last year. The next day, on December 16, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mostazir Rahman granted her a two-day remand in the Shahbagh Police Station attempt to murder case.
