Muktadesh Desk: Metro rail services have resumed on the Uttara-Motijheel section after being closed for about 22 hours. The services resumed around 11 am on Monday.
Train services on the Uttara-Motijheel route were suspended from 12:30 pm on Sunday after a bearing pad fell off a pillar of the metro rail in the Farmgate area. However, for the convenience of passengers, train services on the Uttara-Agargaon-Uttara route started at 2:58 pm.
A young man named Abul Kalam was killed when a bearing pad of the metro rail fell off in the capital’s Farmgate area. The accident occurred around 12:30 pm. The deceased’s home is in Isharpati village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur. Metro rail services have been suspended since this incident.
On Monday morning, Abul Kalam’s second funeral was held at his home in Isharkathi village in Naria upazila of Shariatpur. Relatives, neighbors and locals gathered to attend the funeral. His mother, siblings, and relatives broke down in tears. Later, he was laid to rest in the graveyard of the Naria Central Jama Masjid.
